1969: The Mets defeat the Expos, 4-2, at Shea Stadium. Gary Gentry gets the win in his major league debut. Tommie Agee hits two home runs, one of which lands in the upper deck in left field.

1974: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 3-2, in their first home game of the season. Jerry Koosman is the winning pitcher and Jerry Grote hits a home run.

1978: The Mets defeat the Cubs, 6-0, as Craig Swan pitches a five-hit shutout. Steve Henderson and Ken Henderson drive in all six runs of the game.

1980: The Mets defeat the Cubs, 5-2, on Opening Day at Shea Stadium. It is the team's first game under new ownership.

1987: The Mets defeat the Braves, 6-3, at Shea Stadium. All the Mets' runs are scored on three homers.

2005: Pedro Martinez gets his first win as a Met. It is also Willie Randolph's first win as Mets' manager after five losses to begin the season.

2008: Angel Pagan singles home the winning run in the 12th inning for a 4-3 Mets victory over the Phillies at Shea Stadium.
