1963: The Mets win their first game of the season, 5-4, over the Milwaukee Braves at the Polo Grounds. Back-to-back doubles by Jim Hickman and Ron Hunt in the ninth inning score the winning runs.

1964: Al Jackson pitches a 6-0 shutout over the Pirates for the Mets' first win at Shea Stadium.

1976: Del Unser hits a home run in the 17th inning to give the Mets a 4-3 win at St. Louis.

1981: The Mets split a doubleheader with the Expos at Shea Stadium. Montreal wins the opener, 4-3, and the Mets win the nightcap, 7-2. Dave Kingman hits his first home run since returning to the team in the Mets' Game 2 win.

1992: Anthony Young records his last win (an 11-6 Mets victory over the Expos at Montreal) before losing his next 27 consecutive decisions, setting an all-time record. His streak finally ends on July 28, 1993.

2004: The Mets defeat the Expos, 4-1, at Shea Stadium. Tyler Yates records his first major league win.

2005: The Mets set a club record with seven home runs in a 16-4 win over the Phillies. Jose Reyes and Victor Diaz hit two homers each while Doug Mientkiewicz, Mike Piazza and David Wright each hit one. Wright's homer is his first career grand slam.

2010: Ike Davis makes his major league debut at Citi Field against the Chicago Cubs. Davis wears #42 as does every other player on Jackie Robinson Day.
