1962: The Mets record their first win, 9-1, over the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Jay Hook is the winning pitcher.

1972: The Mets sweep a doubleheader, 8-2 and 7-6, against the Cubs at Shea Stadium. Jon Matlack records his first major league win in the opener. In the nightcap, Jim Beauchamp singles home the winning run in the 12th inning in his first appearance as a Met.

1965: Trailing 8-2 after seven innings, the Mets score six times in the eighth and ninth and once in the 11th for a 9-8 win over the Giants at San Francisco.

1975: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 7-1, at Shea Stadium. Six runs in the fifth inning propel the Mets to victory.

1980: Mark Bomback records his first major league win in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Phillies at Philadelphia.

1989: Kevin McReynolds and Gary Carter hit home runs in the eighth inning to give the Mets a 4-2 win over the Cubs at Shea Stadium.

1992: The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 1-0, in 13 innings. Daryl Boston gets hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to win it.

1996: Chris Jones hits a two-run homer in the 10th inning to give the Mets an 8-6 win over the Reds at Shea Stadium.
