Billy Wagner
From The Met Wiki
Billy Wagner is 37 years old. He signed with the Mets as a free agent in the off-season before the 2006 season. Before playing for the Mets he played for the Houston Astros and the Philadelphia Phillies. He has 385 Career saves, a 2.40 career ERA, and a very low career WHIP of 1.01.
[edit] Billy's Injury
In September of the 2008 season Billy had Tommy John surgery. He will be out of baseball at least until August of the 2009 season. He will be paid $10.5 million (which the Mets were unable to get insured)for this season. The Mets have an $8m option for the 2010 season, but it comes with a $1 million buyout. Unless Wagner looks really good late in the season it's unlikely the Mets will pick up the option for 2010. especially now that they have Francisco Rodriguez and J.J. Putz.
Later in the 2009 season Wagner was picked up by the Red Sox off waivers.
