Cliff Floyd

Cliff Floyd was an outfielder for the Mets from 2003 to 2006. He played in 468 regular season and six post season games with the team. Floyd had a .268 batting average with 81 home runs and 273 runs batted in as a Met.
Floyd played in the major leagues for ten seasons before joining the Mets as a free agent. In ’03, he hit 18 home runs to tie with Jeromy Burnitz for the team lead. At Shea Stadium on April 2, Cliff hit a two-run homer to put the Mets ahead to stay in a 4-1 win over the Cubs. He had a single and two doubles in a 3-1 Mets victory over the Expos on April 5 at Shea. Floyd hit a grand slam in the Mets’ 5-3 win at Milwaukee on May 4. He had two doubles, a homer and four RBIs in a 9-6 Mets triumph at Colorado on May 12. Cliff hit a two-run homer to put the Mets ahead to stay in the team's 5-1 win at San Francisco on May 17. At Texas on June 11, he drove in five runs with two singles and a homer in an 8-2 Mets victory over the Rangers. Floyd also singled four times in the Mets’ 6-4 win over the Rockies on August 17 at Shea.
In 2004, Floyd collected 103 hits. He homered 18 times and scored 55 runs during the season. At Houston on May 14, Cliff had a double and a grand slam in the Mets’ 8-3 victory over the Astros. He hit a two-run homer and drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single for a 5-4 Mets triumph over the Cardinals on May 18 at Shea. Floyd hit two home runs in a 7-5 Mets win at Cincinnati on June 29. He had a single, a homer and a stolen base in a 10-1 Mets victory at Philadelphia on July 7. Cliff had a pair of doubles and a stolen base in the Mets’ 12-3 win at Milwaukee on August 3. He also hit a two-run homer in a 7-0 Mets triumph over the Braves on September 14 at Shea.
Floyd batted .273 in the 2005 season. He had 34 home runs and 98 RBIs for the year. At Shea on April 22, Cliff homered and drove in two runs in the Mets’ 3-1 win over the Nationals. He hit two home runs for all the scoring in a 2-0 Mets victory over the Cardinals on May 13 at Shea. Floyd hit a three-run homer in the 10th inning to give the Mets a 5-3 win over the Angels at Shea on June 11. He had a pair of two-run homers in the Mets’ 10-3 victory over the Yankees on June 25. Cliff drove in two runs with a single and a homer in a 9-4 Mets win at Houston on July 31. He also had two singles and a two-run homer in a 4-1 Mets triumph over the Braves on September 18 at Shea.
Injuries limited Floyd to 97 games played in 2006. He accumulated 135 total bases in the Mets’ division-winning season. At Washington on April 13, Cliff doubled and homered in the Mets’ 13-4 victory over the Nationals. He had a run-scoring single and a home run in an 8-7 Mets win over the Braves in 14 innings on May 5 at Shea. Floyd had a single, a double, a homer and five RBIs in the Mets’ 17-3 triumph over the Marlins in the second game of a doubleheader at Shea on July 8. He hit a solo homer and a grand slam in a 13-7 Mets victory at Chicago on July 16. Cliff singled to drive in a run in the Mets’ 4-0 win over the Marlins that clinched the National League Eastern Division title on September 18 at Shea. He also hit a home run in a 6-5 Mets victory over the Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series at Shea on October 4.
Floyd joined the Cubs as a free agent in 2007. He spent one season with the Chicago team and played for the American League Champion Tampa Bay Rays in 2008. Cliff concluded his career with the San Diego Padres in 2009.
