J. J. Putz was a pitcher for the Mets in 2009. He made 29 relief appearances for the team. Putz had one win and two saves as a Met.
Putz came to the Mets in a trade with the Mariners in December of 2008. In the ’09 season, he compiled 29 and one-third innings pitched. At Citi Field on April 17, J. J. pitched a perfect ninth inning and got the win in the Mets’ 5-4 victory over the Brewers. He pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth for a save in a 9-6 Mets win at San Francisco on May 16. Putz pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record a save in the Mets’ 3-2 win at Boston on May 23. He was placed on the disabled list with an injured right elbow on June 5 and missed the rest of the season.
In 2010, Putz appeared in 60 games as a reliever with the White Sox. He joined the Diamondbacks in 2011.
