Juan Acevedo

Juan Acevedo was a pitcher for the Mets in 1997. He appeared in 25 games with the team. Acevedo had three wins and 33 strikeouts as a Met.
Acevedo joined the Mets from their AAA-level team in Norfolk during the '97 season. At Shea Stadium on July 6, he pitched a scoreless 12th inning to get the win in a 3-2 Mets victory over the Marlins. Juan had five innings pitched and got the win in the Mets' 8-5 triumph over the Blue Jays on September 2 at Shea. He also pitched seven innings for the win in an 8-2 Mets victory over the Braves at Shea on September 28.
In 1998, Acevedo was traded to the Cardinals. He pitched two seasons with the St. Louis team and one with the Milwaukee Brewers. Juan remained in the major leagues until 2003. He later returned to his native Mexico to continue his career.
