1972: The Mets defeat the Expos, 4-2, at Shea Stadium. A two-run homer by Duffy Dyer in the eighth inning wins it.

1982: The Mets score six runs in the seventh and eighth innings and defeat the Pirates, 9-4, at Shea Stadium.

1983: The Mets sweep a doubleheader with two 12-inning wins over the Pirates, 7-6 and 1-0. Bob Bailor singles home the winning run in Game 1. Mookie Wilson scores from second base on a groundout to win Game 2. Jesse Orosco is the winning pitcher in both games.

1996: The Mets defeat the Pirates, 3-2, in 10 innings at Shea Stadium. Bernard Gilkey hits a game-tying home run in the ninth and Chris Jones hits a two-run homer to win it in the 10th.

2002: Just one day after losing 16-3 to Houston, the Mets rebound with a 10-0 win over the Astros. Shawn Estes and Mike Bacsik combine for a two-hit shutout.

2006: The Mets trade Xavier Nady for Roberto Hernandez and Oliver Perez.
