1967: The Mets defeat the Giants, 8-7, at Shea Stadium. It is their first win ever over Juan Marichal after 19 losses.
1972: In the first game of a doubleheader, Tom Seaver pitches eight hitless innings before Leron Lee singles in the ninth. The Mets defeat the Padres, 2-0.
1975: Dave Kingman and Jerry Grote hit home runs off Tug McGraw in the ninth inning for a 4-3 Mets win over the Phillies at Philadelphia.
1978: Pat Zachry pitches a two-hit shutout over the Phillies. Lee Mazzilli's grand slam in the eighth inning provides all the Mets' runs in a 4-0 win.
1985: The Mets defeat the Braves in 19 innings, 16-13, in Atlanta. The game ends at 3:55 AM Eastern Time.
1999: The Mets defeat the Braves, 7-6, at Shea Stadium. Edgardo Alfonzo hits a three-run homer in the seventh inning to put the Mets ahead to stay.
2004: The Mets defeat the Yankees, 6-5, at Shea Stadium to complete a three-game sweep of the Subway Series.
