1976: The Mets defeat the Dodgers, 11-0, at Los Angeles. Dave Kingman hits three home runs and Tom Seaver pitches a 3-hit shutout.
1988: Kevin McReynolds hits a home run in the 13th inning to give the Mets a 6-5 victory over the Cubs at Shea Stadium. It is the second time in three days that the Mets win on a homer in the 13th.
1998: The Mets trade Dave Mlicki and Greg McMichael to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Hideo Nomo and Brad Clontz.
2006: Lastings Milledge hits his first major league home run off Giants' closer Armando Benitez at Shea Stadium.
2010: Gary Matthews Jr. is designated for assignment. Also, Ruben Tejada and Omir Santos replace the injured Luis Castillo and Henry Blanco on the Mets' roster.
