Kurt Abbott was an infielder for the Mets in 2000. He played in 79 games with the team. Abbott had 34 hits for 61 total bases as a Met.
Abbott joined the Mets as a free agent after seven seasons in the major leagues. He had six homers and 22 runs scored in the Mets’ pennant-winning year. At Shea Stadium on April 19, Kurt hit two singles and scored a run in the Mets’ 3-1 win over the Brewers. He doubled, tripled and scored twice in an 11-3 Mets victory over the Orioles at Shea on June 7. One night later, Abbott homered in the tenth inning to give the Mets an 8-7 win over the Orioles. He hit a three-run homer in the Mets’ 7-3 triumph at Milwaukee on June 18. Kurt hit a home run in the 11th inning for a 6-5 Mets win at Houston on August 7. He also had two singles, a run scored and an RBI in a 10-2 Mets victory over the Brewers on September 12 at Shea.
In 2001, Abbott concluded his major league career with the Atlanta Braves.
