Lastings Milledge was going to be the next big thing in New York, but he never worked out for the Mets. After Paul Lo Duca and Shawn Greene played out their contracts the Mets needed a new catcher and outfielder. Milledge, no longer a prize prospect in the Mets' eyes, was traded for two borderline starters that the Mets needed.
