1981: The Mets defeat the Padres, 6-2, at Shea Stadium to end a seven-game losing streak. Pete Falcone pitches four and one-third innings of hitless relief for his first win of the season.

1984: The Mets defeat the Cubs, 4-3, at Shea Stadium. In the ninth inning, Danny Heep hits a triple and scores the winning run. Ed Lynch pitches four scoreless innings to pick up the win.

1989: The Mets defeat the Braves, 7-1, in Atlanta. It is the 2,000th regular season win for the Mets in franchise history.

2003: Mo Vaughn plays his last major league game.

2009: Ken Takahashi makes his major league debut against the Phillies with the Mets.

2010: Against the Phillies, Johan Santana gives up 10 runs in 3 2/3 innings, the worst start in his major league career. In his next 5 starts, Santana gives up only 7 earned runs while recording 21 strikeouts.
