1962: In the second game of a doubleheader, the Mets get their first triple play in club history. Elio Chacon, Felix Mantilla and Gil Hodges team up to record three outs on a ball hit by the Dodgers' Willie Davis in the sixth inning. The Mets eventually lose, 6-5, on Davis's home run in the ninth inning.

1969: The Mets come from behind to defeat the Giants, 4-3, at Shea Stadium. A single by Duffy Dyer drives home the winning run in the eighth inning. Rod Gaspar hits his only major league home run.

1986: The Mets defeat the Giants, 8-7, in 10 innings. Kevin Mitchell scores the winning run after Rafael Santana's pop fly with two out is dropped.

1996: The Mets defeat the Giants, 1-0, at Shea Stadium. Paul Wilson and John Franco combine for a four-hit shutout. Jose Vizcaino drive in the only run with a two-out single in the eighth inning.

1987: Sid Fernandez strikes out 11 batters while pitching a five-hit shutout as the Mets defeat the Padres, 3-0, at San Diego.

2009: The Mets trade Ramon Castro to the White Sox for Lance Broadway.
