Mike Pelfrey
From The Met Wiki
Mike Pelfrey is a home grown talent of the Mets selected in the 2005 draft. He has shown himself to be extremely talented and focused. He is a very nice kid who my husband and i have had the pleasure of speaking to last summer and he was lectured by my husband on going home to get a goods nights rest before an important game the next day against the Yankees (his sheepish reply was, YES DAD). Needless to say, they won the game and we took our share of the credit. Mike relies heavily on Brian Schneider as his catcher and David Wright as his third baseman, and he considers them two of his best personal friends as well, they both guide him during the game and speak to him if he does get rattled during game situations.
[edit] Scouting Report
Pelfrey is a 6'7" young fastball pitcher with good control, but no reliable second pitch. He had an excellent stretch in 2008, where his sinking fastball led to many groundouts. But he's going to need another quality pitch if he's going to be a consistently good pitcher.
