Murphy reach around
From The Met Wiki
In a season marked my Met miscues, many of them funny, and some of them by Daniel Murphy, the Mets' finally came on the winning side on this play. "I've been in this game for 40 years and I've never seen that before" was a refrain used on Luis Castillo's game losing dropped pop-up, Mike Pelfrey's game losing 3 balks, Ryan Church's game losing missed third base (should I go on?) but now it was used on this.
Hard grounder smacked off the first base bag. Murphy changed direction, reached the ball, flipped it behind his back, and Bobby Parnell helped out with a great running stretch. After the game ESPN -- which had run its embarrassing "Mets 10 worst plays of the year" the day before -- now called this the best play of the year so far.
Great blog posts about it:
