Roy McMillan was a shortstop for the Mets from 1964 to 1966. He had 255 hits in 346 games as a member of the team. McMillan also served as a coach and interim manager with the Mets.

McMillan came to the Mets from the Milwaukee Braves in a trade for Jay Hook and Adrian Garrett on May 8, 1964. He collected 25 runs batted in and 95 total bases over the rest of the '64 season. In the opener of the first doubleheader ever at Shea Stadium on May 10, Roy hit a double and a triple as the Mets defeated the Cardinals, 4-1. He recorded the first two outs of a triple play in an 8-6 Mets loss to the Giants in 23 innings at Shea on May 31. McMillan hit a two-run homer in the Mets' 7-5 win over the Colt .45s on September 7 at Shea. He also had two singles and a triple in a 7-6 Mets loss at Milwaukee on September 10.

In 1965, McMillan set a Mets record with 157 games played. He also topped the team with 106 singles during the year. Roy singled four times and scored twice in the Mets' 10-8 loss at Cincinnati on May 2. In the first game of a doubleheader at Shea on May 16, he had a double and a home run as the Mets defeated the Reds, 6-2. McMillan had four singles and two doubles over two consecutive games at Chicago on May 31 and June 1. He also had three singles and two RBIs in a 6-3 Mets win over the Reds at Shea on June 30.

McMillan had 47 hits and 24 runs scored in 1966. He also drove in 12 runs in his final season as a major league player. At Atlanta on April 24, Roy had a single, a double and a run scored in the Mets' 4-3 win over the Braves. He drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single in a 7-6 Mets triumph at Los Angeles on May 29. McMillan singled, doubled and scored twice in a 9-6 Mets win on July 7 at Philadelphia. He homered in a 3-2 Mets win at San Francisco on July 20. Roy got his final major league hit with a single in a 6-3 Mets win over the Cubs on July 30 at Shea.

From 1970 to 1972, McMillan served on the coaching staff of the Milwaukee Brewers. He joined the Mets' staff in 1973 and remained until 1976. With both teams, Roy filled in as an interim manager. He skippered two games for the Brewers in 1972 and 53 games for the Mets in 1975.
