Ruben Tejada is professional infielder in the New York Mets organization. He mostly played shortstop, but played second base with the Mets while Luis Castillo was out.
2010 Season
Tejada made his major league debut on April 7. But on April 9, 2010 he got his first major league hit off the Washington Nationals' Tyler Walker. On his first day in the majors he went 0 for 2 and got hit by a pitch. He was then sent back down to the minors when Jose Reyes came off the DL and began playing.
On June 4, 2010, Tejada and Omir Santos came back to the Mets as Ruben replaced Luis Castillo who was put on the DL due to foot problems. Santos came back as Mets backup catcher Henry Blanco was a bit "Banged Up."
On July 20, 2010, Tejada was sent down to the Minors for Luis Castillo.
On September 5,2010. Tejada hit his first major league homerun against the Cubs off pitcher Marcos Mateo on the first pitch.
