Ryan Church was traded to the Mets in the Winter of 2008 along with Brian Schneider for Lastings Milledge.

The first part of the 2008 season, Ryan Church was the Mets best hitter when he fell victim to his second concussion, the first one occurring during Spring Training. He did see limited playing time at the end of the season, but missing a lot of time from the concussions did affect his confidence in his game.

On July 11, 2009 Church was traded to the Braves for RF Jeff Francoeur
