1965: Jim Hickman becomes the first Met ever to hit three home runs in a game. The Mets defeat the Cardinals, 6-3.

1976: Tom Seaver pitches a four-hit shutout and records his 200th strikeout of the season in a 1-0 Mets win over the Phillies at Shea Stadium.

1977: The Mets hit five doubles that lead to a 9-1 win over the Braves at Shea Stadium.

1978: Lee Mazzilli becomes the first Met to hit a home run from each side of the plate in one game. The Mets defeat the Dodgers, 8-5.

1985: Gary Carter hits three home runs in the Mets' 8-3 win over the Padres in San Diego.

2001: The Mets defeat the Phillies, 10-7, on Labor Day at Philadelphia. It is the 3,000th regular season win for the Mets in their history.

2002: The Mets lose to the Marlins at Shea Stadium in the first game of a doubleheader, breaking the team record of consecutive losses in home games with their 15th.

2003: The Mets defeat the first place Braves, 9-3, to complete a sweep of a three-game series at Shea Stadium.

2006: The Mets lose to the Astros, 2-1, despite a combined one-hitter among four pitchers.

2009: Josh Thole gets his first major league hit with a single in his first at-bat.
