Willie Randolph was a second baseman for the Mets in 1992. He was also the team’s manager from 2005 to 2008. Randolph accumulated 91 total bases as a Mets player and managed them to a division title.

In ’92, Randolph joined the Mets as a free agent after seventeen major league seasons. He appeared in 79 games as a second baseman for the team. At Shea Stadium on April 21, Willie had a single and a game-winning, two-run double in the Mets’ 4-2 victory over the Cardinals. He singled twice and drove in a run in an 8-7 Mets win at Atlanta on May 1. Randolph had two singles, a double and an RBI in the Mets’ 8-0 triumph at San Diego on May 19. He homered in an 8-2 Mets win over the Cubs at Shea on June 22. Willie had a pair of run-scoring singles in the Mets’ 8-6 victory at Philadelphia on July 28. He also singled and doubled for his last two major league hits in the Mets’ 4-2 defeat to the Pirates in 16 innings on August 10 at Shea.

Following his playing career, Randolph served on the Yankees’ coaching staff for eleven seasons. In ’05, he became the Mets’ manager and led the team to a won-lost record of 83-79. Willie guided the Mets to National League leading 97 victories in 2006 and a three-game sweep of the Dodgers in the Division Series. The team fell short of a post-season berth one year later, finishing second in the National League East Division. Randolph was dismissed by the Mets during the 2008 season. His .544 winning percentage as manager is the second highest in team history. Only Davey Johnson, at .588, holds a higher percentage.

Randolph served as bench coach for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2009 and 2010. In 2011, he joined the coaching staff of the Baltimore Orioles.
